# Receive a Telegram Verification Code with a Virtual Number

Need a phone number to sign up for Telegram, but don't want to use your own? ## How to receive a Telegram verification code

1. **Sign in to SMSPing and check your balance.**
2. **Choose the service "Telegram".** Search for it in the catalog.
3. **Pick a country and a carrier.** The page lists each carrier with its live price and whether it has stock.
4. **Check the price and place the order.** The price is deducted from your balance. The price shown at checkout is the one that applies.
5. **Enter the number in Telegram.** Use the international format: country code plus number (for example +1 for the US, +44 for the UK, +60 for Malaysia). Tap *Next* so Telegram sends the code.

## What to know before you buy

- **A virtual number is for receiving a code once.** It is not a good long-term recovery number: the number may no longer be yours later, and you may not be able to receive another SMS on it.
- **Set up two-step verification right after signing in.** In Telegram, add a cloud password and store it safely. It protects the account even if you can't receive SMS on that number again.
- **If the number is already used on another device,** Telegram may send the code inside the Telegram app instead of by SMS. A fresh number normally doesn't have this issue.
- **Don't request codes repeatedly.** Telegram limits repeated requests in a short time. If it asks you to wait, wait.
- **Number type (real SIM or VoIP) and whether the number is exclusive to you** are described in our official help.

## If the code doesn't arrive

1. Check the number format: country code plus number, with no missing digit.
2. Check that the order is for **Telegram**, not another service.
3. Wait for Telegram's resend option before asking again.
4. If the order passes its waiting period with no SMS, cancel it or let it expire. **Orders that received no SMS are refunded to your SMSPing balance;** an order that already received an SMS can't be cancelled for a refund.
5. Try another carrier or country.
